There are few things worth getting up at the crack of dawn for. Hearing your name during the Academy Award nominations is definitely one of those things.

This was an exciting morning for a handful of Hollywood A-listers. From Brad Pitt to Viola Davis to Jonah Hill, lots of stars had a damn good reason to break open a bottle of champagne before noon today. Here’s what our favorite Oscar-nominated stars had to say about their accomplishment:

Brad Pitt: "It's gonna be pancakes for everyone this morning!" the actor said when he phoned in to the Today show Tuesday morning.

Jonah Hill: Jonah Hill Tweeted about his very first Oscar nom:

“Wow. Pretty incredible day so far.”

He then released a wordier statement: “I am so humbled, appreciative and in shock about this incredible honor. I'd like to thank the Academy, Sony Pictures, the cast and crew of 'Moneyball,' Brad Pitt, and, most of all, our brilliant director Bennett Miller."

Martin Scorsese: Scorsese finally won an Oscar for Best Director in 2007. And maybe, just maybe, he’ll nab another one for Hugo.

"I am deeply honored to have been nominated by the Academy for my work on 'Hugo.'” Scorsese said. “Every picture is a challenge, and this one – where I was working with 3-D, HD and Sacha Baron Cohen for the first time -- was no exception.”

Michelle Williams: “This role has been the challenge and privilege of a lifetime. I would like to think that the recognition our film has received by the Academy is a testament to Marilyn's legacy,” Williams said regarding her My Week With Marilyn nomination.

Viola Davis: Though she was nominated for The Help, there’s another movie Davis praised:

“I'm also incredibly happy that 'Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close' was nominated for best picture. It was the last film called and I was just thrilled, I really was.”

Meryl Streep: Meryl Streep now has a whopping 17 Academy Award nominations, making her the most-nominated actor of all time. And she remains ever-humble:

"I am honored to be in company with such beautiful artists and touched deeply by my fellow actors for their generosity in giving me this acknowledgment."

Octavia Spencer: Octavia might have been nursing a hangover when she found out about her Best Supporting Actress nomination.

"A lot of us actually went to dinner last night and slept over and wanted to be together when we found out, so in case we didn't get that call we wanted to be nice and hungover."

Hollyscoop asked Octavia earlier this year how she felt about her Oscar buzz. Spencer told us: “I’m nominated for a lot of things. I don’t know if I’m going to get a lot of things, but it’s great to be in the conversation.”
