Bearing a striking resemblence to his royal mum, the adorable young royal was fully dressed in bunad - the nation's traditional costume.

And the four-year-old wasn't the only youngster helping celebrate the big day. Also there was Princess Ingrid, six, and Mette Marit's 13-year-old son Marius, from a previous relationship.

Syttende Mai - the May 17 holiday - marks the day in 1814 when Norway gained independence from a 500-year union with Denmark.

Children's processions are one of the highlights of the day and it's also the occasion for high school leavers to celebrate the end of their school days by parading on floats bearing slogans and playing loud music.
